Self defense/fighting during fasting?
My brother is a really loose cannon. If he were to attack me can i give him a good beating or would that invalidate my fast.
If he has actually engaged and attacked me how can i walk away to another room while he’s punching me in my face. Use some common sense!
NO don’t do that , just try to ignore him and go to another room while saying : allahuma iny saaim

I don’t believe defending yourself would invalidate your fast. Instigating the attack might, or reacting offensively instead of defensively but I’m sure you were never meant to allow yourself to be beaten to a pulp.

If it’s self defense, then I think that’s okay, but if you beat him up for no reason, that’s wrong.

I can emphathise with you. I live with a brother like yours. When he gets into worse tempers, he gets violent. He once tried to strangle my mother, leaving fingermarks on her neck. He nearly killed me with a candlestick.
The best solution is that you should cease speaking to him altogether. See if that works. Your silent treatment might be more than he can bare. He probably prefers your punches, not your silent treatment, which might have some effects on him. See if your silent treatment helps change his behaviour toward you and your family.
I have not spoken to my brother in nearly ten years, not even right under the roof of our home.
If I talk to him, he only gets worse instead of getting better and he won’t reform his character. Besides, my silent treatment offers me advantages.
Formerly, my brother used to tell lies against me and invent hearsays supposed to be mine. As result of his lies, I ceased speaking to him altogether. When I kept up my silent treatment, my brother stopped accusing me of any invented hearsay.

If you need to ask if it would violate a tenet of your faith to defend yourself from assault, then there is something wrong my friend.
It is never wrong to defend/protect innocent human life.
Be well.
